A larger lot near Lonsdale in North Vancouver City was subdivided into 2-33’ wide lots. Midori Uchi (‘Green Home’ in japanese) was owned and built by the owner of Naikoon Contracting to showcase a broad array of modern green building features and techniques that resulted in a home that has achieved Net-Zero energy consumption. Net zero means the house produces more energy over the year from its solar panel array than it consumes. Of particular note are the rammed earth walls, extensive use of reclaimed building materials, highly insulated and air tight building envelope, low energy appliances and lighting.
